Eurafrica is the dream of uniting the two shores of the Strait of Gibraltar. It aims to showcase this historic, secluded and unique place through a multi-stage mountain race. Our aim is to bring together the cultures and natural beauty of this region through sport.

It has now been eleven years since the Eurafrica Trail began, and after ten successful editions, our enthusiasm and commitment to visiting and showcasing the villages, mountains and trails of the Strait remain as strong as ever.

In 2026, we will once again feature a late-night stage: the Málaga stage from Gaucín Station. This half-marathon will undoubtedly be a key highlight of the event as a whole. Furthermore, we will invest in improving services for participants, retaining the 4-star Marina Smir hotel as Camp África, and we will continue to run the Hospitality Centres at the Camps, where we will organise all sorts of activities, as well as providing a physiotherapy service for recovery after stages 2 and 4.

The race will kick off with the distribution of welcome packs in Tarifa (Cádiz) on Thursday 29 October, from where we will head towards Gibraltar in the early afternoon for the first stage, the Gibraltar Vertical Race – a 5K race with 500m of elevation gain – as well as holding the opening ceremony in the beautiful San Miguel Cave.

On Friday 30 October, we’ll explore the village of Estación de Gaucín, in the municipality of Cortes de la Frontera (Málaga), nestled between the Grazalema and Alcornocales Natural Parks, amidst rocky terrain and forests, with trails alongside the River Guadiaro, climbs and sections along the traditional cork-harvesting tracks – a traditional industry in the area.

On Saturday 31 October, a stunning half-marathon awaits us through the Mediterranean woodlands of the Alcornocales Natural Park in Algeciras (Cádiz), where we’ll enjoy its technical trails, fast tracks and breathtaking views of the Strait. This third stage in Cádiz covers 21.6 km with 1,100 metres of elevation gain. From there, we’ll set off for Tarifa, where we’ll take the ferry to the African continent, arriving first at the port of Tangier, and from there, we’ll take the bus to Camp Africa in M’Diq.

On Sunday 1 November, we’ll return to the small kabila of Belwazen in the Moroccan Rif, where we’ll hold a spectacular and exhilarating stage in the mountains of Fasml Jaar, amongst small villages, valleys and cultivated fields, with the peak of Jbel Abyad (Monte Blanco) as the stage’s highest point and a vantage point overlooking the entire Strait. A beautiful half-marathon through the mountains and small villages of the Rif range, covering 21 kilometres with 1,600 metres of elevation gain.

On Monday 2 November, we’ll enjoy a spectacular and exhilarating short stage, running alongside the coast and through the mountains of M’Diq–Fnideq, between Tetouan and Tangier. A grand finale covering 13.6 kilometres with 500 metres of elevation gain to bring this edition of Eurafrica 2026 to a close.

That Monday afternoon, we’ll once again cover the 14 km stretch across the Strait on the return ferry between Tangier and Tarifa, bringing this great five-day adventure – spanning three cultures and two continents – to a close.
